I interned for the national desk at NBC Owned TV Stations during my junior year of college. While I was there, I had the opportunity to write about things like POTUS' Twitter habits, interview Randi Weingarten and Kyle Richards and get my first true taste of all the wonders of digital journalism, such as working with a CMS. 

What Is a 'Sanctuary City'?

First and foremost, I defined sanctuary cities in this story, as well as why people advocate for them, and why people oppose them. I then used a study called "Federal Funding of America’s Sanctuary Cities" from OpenTheBooks.com to write an analysis on federal funding of sanctuary cities after President Donald Trump threatened to pull funding from these municipalities. Key points I touched on included funding per resident and the legality of the president's threat.

Groups Take Aim at USDA for Animal Welfare Document Takedown

Animal rights activists and researchers hit back at the department after a public database full of inspection reports, enforcement actions and research facility reports was purged by the Animal Plant and Health Inspection Service (APHIS). I spoke to representatives from PETA and the Humane Society, as well as an academic fellow at Harvard and someone who put together a website full of thousands of the deleted documents.
